The meeting addressed three key issues for the city: the Calella-Maresme Sport City Lab project, the possible impact of Brexit and the Calella Film Office.
In the mark of the World Travel Market which is celebrated in London till the 6th of November, the Mayor of Calella, Montserrat Candini, met with the Catalan Governments delegate for the United Kingdom and Ireland, Mr. Sergi Marcén, to familiarise him with the city’s internationalization strategy.
During the meeting, the mayor presented to the Delegate, the Calella-Maresme Sport City Lab project, an operation promoted by the Town Hall of Calella to turn the municipality into an urban laboratory for innovations in the field of sport. The initiative is part of the RIS3 strategy (strategies for Intelligent Specialization in Research and Innovation that consist of the economic transformation of the territory). The delegate promised to promote the project with the intention of finding British companies who may be interested in this initiative.
The Calella Film Office project was also presented, a service created by the Calella City Council with the aim of facilitating support for professionals in the world of film, television and advertising to make their projects a reality, assessing them on the search for locations and offering them all the information they need to film anywhere in the city. In this sense, the delegate has proposed a meeting in London between Catalan cities and British producers who may be interested in finding locations for the different audio-visual productions they carry out.
Finally, the mayor and the delegate reflected on the possible impact of Brexit in tourist destinations such as Calella in order to assess the possible measures to be taken in relation to the tourism marketing strategy for the 2020 season.
